What are the key elements of a good photograph
What is important to a good photograph? Some people might say light. Yes, light forms the basis of image. Some people may say composition, which is also true. Composition is the aesthetic basis of a photo. Only photos with reasonable composition can make the viewer more easily accept the content of the picture and focus on the subject of the picture in the first place according to the photographer's composition principle. These are all true, but they are not the only criteria. For a good work, there is still a lot to be done.
The process of taking photos is more like a compromise. We can never be perfect, and taking photos can't be like painting, which is to adjust our pictures according to our own mind at will. Taking photos is more about the changes made by the photographer himself in the face of the environment itself. No matter whether the light is good or not, no matter whether the elements in front can meet the needs of his own composition, a picture needs to be completed in a compromise, so that it can achieve the ideal appearance in his mind as far as possible.
But for a photographer, we have to know what is important in a picture, is the key to let us take a good picture.
First of all, it should be the element, which is the basic composition of the picture and the first content to be expressed when seeing a picture. In fact, elements are also the basis of composition, and it is the placement of elements that determines how you choose to compose.
And then there's light, which is always the most essential thing in photography. There are many kinds of light, strong light, soft light, weak light, warm light, cold light, natural light and artificial light. Light is a big topic that requires in-depth study to master, but it is only a sufficient condition for a good photo, not a necessary condition.
It can only be said that there is a good light source, a picture can look better, but cannot say that want to take a good picture, you must have a good light source. There is no way to control the natural light conditions on site. A good photographer should learn how to use the existing light source to shoot better works.
Timing is also important, but it depends on the type of shot you're taking. If you're shooting a sport or a street scene, do it quickly. It's like a kiss, a shot, a moment when a wave hits a rock on the shore.
Some images are also very slow, requiring a long wait, like a sunrise. We need to wait patiently for the moment when the sun rises at the shooting site, like shooting the orbit. We need to wait for the exposure of the camera again and again for a long time.
Many landscape photos are beautiful, with perfect composition, rich colors and outstanding details. They are really amazing. However, most of the landscape photos are just temporary amazing. The story in the photo can be abstract, the story in the photo can be concrete, the story in the photo can be complex, and the story in the photo can be simple.
To sum up, there are many criteria for a good photo, but a good photo can only be the result of reflection. Only those photos with emotions can be passed down over a long period of time.
