Landscape and portrait photography, my interests are in the trip, I especially like to look for the local people to communicate, put them as my model, canvas prints online because both in local people's face and traditional clothing in telling the story of their ancestors, I hope in these ancient traces disappear before use my camera to record them.

As I made my way along the dusty country lanes of the india-pakistan border, I could not help but be impressed by the precarious situation in the region, which was a big risk to navigate through a place full of war fumes. Not to mention that the barracks, the truck fleet, and the fortifications that go along the way all remind you that war is around you.

Be patient and wait for the opportunity

If you can visit this place in October, you will be rewarded with spectacular rural autumn scenery. I had planned to come here for a different picture in this colorful season, but unfortunately I got there too early. So I had two choices in front of me. One was to wander around here for a week or two, the other was to go home and come back. In the end, I decided to stay and take the time to relax and see if there was anything interesting going on in this mysterious situation.

The following is a story about the last day of my trip. In a few days the place will be closed for six months, and I'm still feeling frustrated that I didn't get the satisfying pictures. But as I wandered, I happened to notice a woman sitting by the window of a modest wooden house. She looked so sad that I was attracted to her by this strange emotion.

Note: shooting in this area requires permission, and it's best to ask a local guide to follow you. The photo below was taken outside her house, where I was standing next to the local village man and my interpreter, while the woman stared at me from above. After taking the picture, I felt an urge to talk to her and try to encourage her.

Follow your instincts and let the story unfold naturally

Perhaps you wouldn't have guessed that my first thought when I stepped inside was that this was the perfect place to test my new camera's poor light performance. The room was dimly lit, with only a corner of fire for cooking and the rest dominated by elements of dirt and chaos. The woman looked surprised as I entered the room, and began to try to communicate with me in sign language, until I realized she was deaf. At the same time, I felt her hostility to me. It seemed that I had to give up the idea of her being my model.

However, I didn't want to leave in this way, so I sat down opposite her with a smile, showing her the camera in my hand, trying to make her understand my intention and eliminate her fear of me. Remember that most people who live here are often hostile to the visit of strangers. I tried to use sign language to ask if I could take a picture of her, but unfortunately I was a total newbie in sign language, and the woman never understood what I meant, and my heart was urging me to take a few quick shots and go. After a period of stalemate, I still had to give up the opportunity to have in-depth contact with her.

When I was ready to leave, the woman's mother came in and told me the story about her daughter. As mentioned above, her daughter is deaf and mute and suffers from mental illness at an early age. They are now living a very difficult life and there is no one else in their family. As the mother spoke of her most emotional moment, I recorded it with my camera. As I was about to leave, all I could do was give the poor family all the money in my pocket.

Look for the most moving parts of the story

I left the hut with a heavy heart, but as soon as I looked back, I saw my daughter smiling at me from the window, and this rare smile finally became the best picture of my trip. So if you can keep an open mind and follow your instincts, you can also find stories like this on your journey.

I wanted to let everyone in the world know about her existence. I believe this is what every photographer like me who has taken such a precious and unique photo will do. So don't be afraid of danger.
