Six contrast composition skills
Six contrast composition skills
Contrast is a very effective method of composition. Through various comparisons among scenes such as size, light and shade, virtual and real, movement and density, the difference between scenes can be emphasized, and the visual impact and artistic appeal of the picture can be enhanced, so that the viewer can fall in love with your photography. The point of contrast composition is observation. The photographer should be good at finding the differences between scenes and show them in composition. Let's take a look at the six most classic and common techniques of composition.
The size of the contrast
Under the sun's reflection, all things reveal a unique temperament. The picture composition is simple, the tone contrast is intense, and the detail texture performance is relatively exquisite. Some simple subject, if there is no particular draw modeling, direct shooting is difficult to give prize, then can adjust the Angle of view, or to adjust the lens focal length, let the subject show some differences in size, the image will be more attractive, that is to say, in the face of the same object, we through size contrast to reinforce the picture form feeling, make it more interesting pictures, this is the size composition. It is important to note that the size of the contrast of the landscape is best to be the same. Of course, this is not absolute, sometimes we will use some tall mountains, buildings and so on to compare the size of the characters, but these subjects are best shot on the same plane.
The actual contrast
The large aperture obscures the background, allowing the object texture and details in the foreground to be well displayed, creating a kind of lingering effect of the picture. Virtual and real contrast is a very common form of contrast composition, which highlights the subject and strengthens the theme of the picture by highlighting the clear (real) image. It is important to note that this virtual contrast ensures that the body is clear. In addition, we should not let the areas of the virtual over the virtual, do not retain a little contour, otherwise it will not play the role of virtual and real contrast.
Static comparison
Dynamic and static contrast composition is the use of the speed difference to create the effect. We filmed at relatively slow shutter speed, so fast the movement of the object relative to the shutter speed is too fast, so that the camera could not capture it a clear picture of the motion blur, and the movement slower or a static object, record is clear, in this way, the frame is recorded at the same time different subject activity state.
Of course, some static sculptures and characters in the scene will also form a contrast of movement and movement with those in walking, which is more effective in shooting some simple and clean scenes. If the scene is cluttered, it's hard to notice the contrast.
Density contrast
A seemingly ordinary scene implies many elements of composition. The large area of garlic in the foreground has formed the composition of triangle skillfully. The picture is compact, stable and orderly. At the same time, the large area of white garlic and the background have formed the obvious color contrast, which makes the main part of the picture more prominent.
Photography is not graphic design. The real scenes we face are sparse, dense and varied, and only the images showing the natural distribution of this density and contrast will make the viewer feel real, relaxed and comfortable.
Shape
The colorful stickers in the building form rich color blocks against the sunlight. The use of wide-angle lens makes the building appear broad and orderly, which makes the viewer have to admire the photographer's sharp vision.
When patterns and shapes are abundant in the picture, we may focus on the contrast and difference between shapes and shapes. We really want to see what the differences are and what they mean. The contrast of this shape, as long as it arouses the curiosity of the audience, is successful.
The contrast
The contrast relation of light and shade is used to weaken the crowd in the foreground and highlight the main body. At the same time, the figure form in the foreground echoes the form of the building, and the picture is concise and imposing. In general, the light and dark composition emphasizes the subject of the light. This form of composition has two advantages, among which the biggest advantage is that it can enhance the visual impact of the picture and make the key scenes in the light appear eye-catching and intuitive. In addition, with the power of shadows, you can hide some of the clutter.
Use references flexibly
The picture gives a strong visual impact, and the wide-angle lens is matched with the small effect, which makes the horn on the right be exaggerated and enhances the sense of space and depth of the picture.
A lot of actual objects can be photographed as if they were real. For example, if we were near some toy cars, we could shoot them very big. If there is no other comparison, we cannot know whether the subject is a real object or a toy. In other words, without the reference, the viewer may not be able to judge the size of the subject.
In the practical application, we can not only use the reference to let the viewer know the actual size of the subject, but also can flexibly change the Angle of view to go the other way, with the help of some reference to set off the height or smallness of the subject. For example, when you need to exaggerate the shape of a subject, you can use a super wide-angle lens to approach the subject. At this point, that distant reference will appear small, but the lens before the object set off very large, which is a kind of size contrast.
