First we need to know what contrast is. Contrast means difference. For a picture, the most common difference is achieved through the composition of the picture tone (light and shade) or color changes. A high contrast image can present a completely different feeling than a low contrast image.

One of the simplest contrasts is the tonal contrast, which refers to the contrast between the brightness differences between the elements in the image. While tone contrast can play an important role in all types of photos, it is especially important for black-and-white photos. Compared with the above comparison, the emotional comparison is relatively abstract. It is not an objective expression, but more like a subjective expression. Whether the sense of contrast can be generated depends on whether the viewer can understand the placement of the comparison element.
