5 questions to ask yourself before taking a photo
When you hold up your phone or digital camera to take a picture, what do you think about before you press the shutter? If you're like a lot of photography lovers, you don't think too much, you just want to capture the moment, press the shutter quickly, and the picture you take may not look so good. However, if you get in the habit of asking simple questions, you can take your image to the next level. Here are 5 questions to ask during a photo shoot. Learn how to ask these questions before you take a photo, and you'll make it look better.
1. What is the subject of the photo?
This is an important question and one that should help you make a lot of decisions about composition, framing, exposure, etc. In essence, the question you have to ask yourself is why did I take this picture? In short, it's what the work is about. For photography, what the picture represents is the subject. What thoughts or feelings a photograph brings to the reader depends on how it is presented. So choosing a theme is especially important for making great photos.
2. Whether the distance from the subject is appropriate
The shooting distance of different scenes and subjects is different. During shooting, we need to adjust according to the environment and conditions of the scene. For example, sometimes the close-up may destroy the overall response, while the panorama may ignore small details. Before you take a picture, think about whether you are at the right distance from the subject. This will help you make a different picture.
Sometimes in order to capture more detail, you can choose to move yourself closer to your subject, or use a longer focal length to give an intimate effect.
3. Are there any other angles
The same subject, shot from different angles, will have different effects. When shooting, might as well change several angles, more try, may be able to find different beauty. Not only should you learn to shoot from multiple angles at the same scenic spot, but you should also properly discover the differences of each landscape. This will help you create more creative pictures and make your pictures more unique.
4. What is the main light source?
Always consider how your subject shines. Without light, your image will lose detail and clarity. Light is very important in photography. Using different light is the basis for making good pictures, especially if you use natural light. To understand light, there are many aspects and subtleties to understanding it. Learn to find the right light and know how to use it in any situation, to create it, to find it. In general, prime time is the best time to take pictures, which will help you capture dramatic pictures.
5. What is the background and foreground?
One of the most common distractions in digital photography is the background. Look into the space behind your subject and see what else is in the image (as well as in the foreground). The embodiment of foreground and background is a part of a good work, and a good foreground can also make the picture more complete. Therefore, it is very important to learn how to make good use of foreground and background in the composition of photography.
Hopefully, by sharing 5 pre-photo questions, the next time you take a photo, try to focus on asking yourself one or two. As you continue to do this, you will find that the pictures you take will become more and more beautiful.
