10 tips for keeping memories of children’s growth
As a parent, you will feel that children grow up too quickly and will grow into adults in a twinkling. Children have different looks, canvas prints expressions and movements at different ages, so I like to use photography to record their growth. The goal is not just to look back on the pictures of their upbringing, but to hope that they grow up to value their loved ones and time. Therefore, I think whether a photo is attractive, on the surface, may consider whether the composition is good or not, or whether it can capture an important moment, but in fact, it depends on whether it can reflect the emotional expression of the photographer and the subject. I hope that when children grow up and look over the photos we took for them, canvas prints online they can feel their parents' deep love! So we should seize the opportunity to take more beautiful pictures for our children.
Capture the most natural moment by capturing it
Kids react differently to the camera at different ages, but there's usually one thing in common -- they don't look at the camera as you wish. Is it really worth it for them to look at the camera? Since we want to document their lives, we should capture more of their natural moments. So you can try to capture them in a way that doesn't involve asking them to look at the camera and shoot again, but instead waiting for them to quietly shoot while they're with their family or playing around the house, to capture their most natural moments, so that you don't get pictures that are stilted or farfetched.
Pay attention to the Angle of view
Whether a photo is beautiful or not usually depends on the background of the photo. So if the scene is beautiful, we can take as much background as possible. However, many parents are also used to standing to take photos for their children. As children are shorter than us, standing photos will make the camera Angle downward tilt, causing most of the background of the photos to become the ground, wasting beautiful background. Therefore, we should try our best to squat down and take the camera Angle at the same level with the children's eyes, so that we can absorb more background and enrich the background of the photo.
In addition, sometimes we can even squat down a little bit, shot the lens slightly upward, the photo out of the feeling like children watching adults and the world's vision, the effect will be unexpectedly good!
Attention is not only on children
If we put the photos on the children, we will ignore the background and surrounding scenes, so that what should be taken is not taken, and what should not be taken is taken. Therefore, we should take photos of children's surrounding environment, front and back. For example, when we want to take photos of children playing in Disneyland, we should also take photos of its background. There is a trash can next to the child, so avoid taking a picture of it, so that the picture can express the story you want to say and not too messy.
Pay attention to the theme of the photo
When I practice composition, I often ask myself: what is the purpose of this photograph? Should you let people know what your child is doing? And so on, clarify your purpose of shooting, so that you can use the composition, depth of field, shutter, and finally take the photo you want.
Pay attention to the horizontal Angle of the picture
Sometimes novice parents pay less attention to the camera's horizontal Angle when shooting, making the picture tilt. It's okay if we tilt the image specifically for composition, but it's not OK if we get into the habit of slanting the camera from side to side every time we shoot. You don't like it when you watch TV, do you?
Pay attention to the frame shooting range
In order to record the children's details, we can use the wide-angle lens to take full-body photos of people and scenes, so as to show their interaction with the scene. However, when taking full-body photos, you should try to reserve more space for the children's upper and lower sides, so that the children are not too close to the edge of the picture, so as to avoid the photo with a sense of oppression. If you even put a small part of your child's body away from the camera, it will feel unnatural.
In order to enrich the diversity of the photos, we sometimes need to take some special pictures, so we have to decide which parts of the children's body should be located outside the lens. When shooting, we should avoid interception of joint parts such as elbow, knee and ankle on the edge of the picture.
Well word composition method
When shooting, where should we put the children in the picture? If you are a novice parent, you have no idea when shooting; the most basic well word composition method would be a good choice.
If we divide the picture into nine parts on average, there are four intersections in the center, which are visually conspicuous, so when we look at the picture, we pay more attention to the focal points.
Pay attention to camera Settings
Children are restless, so pay attention to proper camera Settings when shooting them. To take a clear picture, we need to be careful about the shutter speed. When we shoot with a hand-held camera, our movements inevitably produce vibrations, and when the shutter is too slow, it is easy to take a blurry picture. The longer the lens's focal length, the more the image is affected by our shaking, so the focal length has an important relationship with the shutter speed. So how do we decide the shutter value without blurring the photo? We can decide the shutter speed according to the safe shutter.
Please note that the above shutter values are only used to ensure that a blurred image is not taken on a safe shutter under normal shaking. If you're really shaking a lot, you have to increase the shutter speed again. As far as I'm concerned, if I don't use a long focal length, I try not to take my shutter speed below 1/80s, because it's important to get a clear shot.
In addition to the safety fast door, some lenses are now equipped with shock protection function. It seems that the VRII optical shock absorbing function of Nikon makes up for the hand shock by the swing of the lens. Shock absorbing effect reaches three to four shutter speeds. So if the lack of exposure prevents us from being able to shoot with a safe shutter, the shock absorbing function of the lens can also help us to take a clear picture.
We like to use large apertures to take shallow depth-of-field photos for children. However, if the aperture is too large, the depth of field will be too shallow. Therefore, it is better not to open the aperture all the time (such as f/1.4~2), or you can choose the wide-angle lens to reduce the depth of field.
Multiple mufti-tap modes
Children are lively and active, some lovely expressions or movements are not click the shutter can be captured. So we sometimes need to use the connected mode and press the shutter more to capture the perfect moment. For example, when they are playing, we can keep track of the children's every move through the viewfinder of the camera (such as using a long lens better), increase the shutter speed as much as possible, and take several pictures in a row with the same action. After returning home, you just need to select the best photos from the serial snapshot to save and delete those not beautiful, so as not to waste storage space and not to miss the opportunity to capture the perfect picture.
Turn toys into props
The key to the success of photographing children is whether they can capture their most childlike moment. Therefore, in addition to exposure, composition, acrylic prints color and atmosphere, the most important thing is how to capture every tiny expression and movement of children. When is a good time to capture their beautiful expressions? Of course it's time to play! So we can take their favorite toys or prepare some small things and let them play while they shoot.
